Roberto Riggio, senior researcher in the Future Networks (FuN) group at CREATE-NET, has been awarded with the Best Paper Award at the 11th IEEE International Conference on Network and Service Management (CNSM) held in Barcelona from November 9th till the 13th.

Best Paper Award @ CNSM 2015

The awarded research work is the result of the ongoing activities on 5G mobile networks carried out by the Future Networks group at CREATE-NET in collaboration with TU-Berlin, Orange Labs, and the University of Bordeaux. This work was carried out under the umbrella of the 5G-PPP initiative.

The awarded paper, "Virtual Network Functions Orchestration in Wireless Networks" presents fundamental theoretical results on mobile networks sharing that will enable an unprecedented level of flexibility in future 5G networks. In particular the outcomes of the presented research will allow to reduce the average service creation time from 90 hours to 90 minutes while ensuring both isolation between virtual operators and an efficient use of the radio spectrum.

CNSM is the flagship IEEE conference in the area of network and service management, and this year's acceptance rate was 17.2%.
