Moreover, here below are provided some of the main laws supporting innovation, research and development in Trentino:

  • Dedicated (L.P.14/05) local fund allowing University and Research centres to attract highly skilled staff, from young graduates to senior researchers. Funds are also available for large scale research projects open to enterprise.
  • Dedicated (L.P.6/99) local fund supporting industrial R&D; the transfer of knowledge from the University and research centres to the private sector; collaboration between business and research allows for the employment of researchers in private enterprise.
  • Ultra-large infrastructure for experimentation of products and services for the future internet thanks to a backbone of around 800 km of optical fibre; the main industrial districts already connected at 100 Mbps; and the FTH planned for the end of 2018.
  • The public sector is an active sponsor of many projects in strategic growth areas such as ICT, green economy, environment, products and services for tourism, culture heritage, education, and smart territory. Various thematic territorial labs (health, tourism, transportation monitoring) are already active involving end users and big industrial player.

Investments in innovation are not affected by the ongoing spending review. Indeed, Trentino's investments in knowledge economy are a lever to foster its economic growth and competitiveness.
