Trentino Winter Universiade 2013

The largest multi-sports event ever organized in Trentino is over. From 11st to 21st of December more than 3.000 athletes and representatives, from 56 countries and 5 continents headed to Trentino, where top university sports athletes competed in 12 sport disciplines to win the 78 gold medals of the 26th Winter Universiade! The event was supported by more than 1500 volunteers.

The happening covered 11 venues including Trento, the capital city of Trentino, with its Monte Bondone, its closest mountain, and Pergine Valsugana, Baselga di Pinè, Fiemme and Fassa's valleys.

Moreover Trentino 2013 was the first zero emission Winter Universiade highlighting the eco-friendly attitude of this Italian province. Furthermore this sport event could count on the main technological infrastructure of Trentino: the optical fiber backbone going through all the territory, assuring a fast and effective support to communication.

An all-around success, and it’s even clearer in the virtual world, on the web and social media. A real triumph awarding Trentino with a gold medal of “like” of its official Facebook page, which on Saturday, December 21st, exceeded the record of all previous editions reaching 15.126 “like”, the best result ever in any Universiade (summer and winter editions)!  Trentino2013 is the most “social” Universiade ever, second only to the Olympic Games.
