SPORT & TRENTINO

The local passion for sports perfectly matches with the extraordinary natural and infrastructural resources Trentino provides its visitors with.

This Italian province, indeed, during the whole year, thanks to its ski facilities and infrastructures, hosts many ski team as Norway's one that prepare and train its athletes for future competitions. Moreover, this territory is very often chosen as setting for international winter sports competitions.

This is due not only to Trentino valleys’ ideal weather conditions for training, both in summer and in winter, but also to high level standard tourist and sport infrastructures, as well as to the excellent organisational skills each territory implements. In winter 2013, December 11-22,  in fact, this territory is hosting Trentino 2013 Winter Universiade.

In summer, instead, more and more sports teams, both Italian and international ones, choose Trentino as seat of their pre-season summer training camps.

Bayern München, Champions League winner, trains in Riva del Garda and Arco led by the new coach Pep Guardiola. Three Italian major leagues football clubs reconfirmed their preference for Trentino: Inter, Napoli and Fiorentina. Coaches Mazzarri, Benitez and Montella will train their teams respectively in Pinzolo, Dimaro and Moena. Moreover, Livorno and Bologna, two Italian football major leagues teams, also chose Trentino for their summer training camp. Trentino will also host Netherland’s Feyenoord team as well as Cyprus’ Apollon Limassol and Belgian Cs Visè.

Borgo Valsugana in August 15-20 will host under-18 pre-season Italian National football team.

Anyway, Trentino in summer does not only mean football teams; in fact, Cavalese will host both men and women Italian National volley teams, whereas Italian National basket team chose Folgaria as its pre-seasonal training camp. Mr. Pianigiani’s team will also participate in Trentino Basket Cup taking place in Trento’s sports stadium PalaTrento August 7-9.  

Trentino WU 2013

The Universiade will be the largest multi-sports event ever organized in Trentino. For the first time the areas which have already been protagonists of the sports history will be connected.
