Fiavè, Ledro and UNESCO

The eastern coast of Ledro lake in Trentino (located N-W of Lago di Garda) and former Fiavè Carera Lake are two areas of important archeological relevance. Since the 1930s archeological excavation campaigns have revealed remains of ancient wood pile dwellings representing villages that date back to the ancient-Middle Bronze age (2200-1350 b.C.).

In 2011 the UNESCO declared these two archeological sites (together with other areas dispersed in the Alps) part of the UNESCO World Heritage List as Prehistoric Pile dwellings around the Alps.
